Celebrate Telford Day with a Magical Lantern Parade!

Telford & Wrekin Council invites you to join us for Telford Day on Sunday 29th November, a s we come together to celebrate our borough and mark 40 years of UNESCO World Heritage Site status for Ironbridge Gorge with a spectacular evening lantern parade.

As the nights draw in and the festive season approaches, bring your family and friends to enjoy a magical procession of handmade lanterns. The parade will begin at 6.00pm, creating a beautiful display of light through Dale End Park, Ironbridge Gorge as we celebrate the spirit of Telford.

To take part, book onto one of our family lantern-making workshops during the October half-term holidays and following weekends. Guided by experienced artists, you’ll create your own willow and tissue-paper, inspired by the rich heritage, innovation and iconic landscapes of Ironbridge Gorge, before adding your own creative touches to make it truly unique.

Workshop information:
• Suitable for families with children aged 5 years and over
• Children must be accompanied by an adult, as you will create and decorate your lantern together
• Workshops last approximately 2.5 hours
• Activities involve glue and other craft materials, so please wear suitable clothing (aprons will be provided)

Once your lantern is complete, we will keep hold of it so that you can come along and join the community for this special celebration on Sunday 29 November (Parade setting off at 6.00pm).

Lantern workshops are just £3 per child, per place.
