Telford Lantern Parade

Join us at the Parade…

Thanks to everyone who attended our lantern making workshops. We will be delighted if you can join the parade on Saturday 29th November.

We will meet by the cafe and visitor Centre in Telford Town Park at 5.30pm; you will be able to collect your lantern and join in the lantern parade.  (Car parking is available throughout the main Town Centre Carparks).

When all participants are in position the parade will begin at 6pm and will be led by the Night Glow Bike Ride.   The parade will go though the Town Park and into Southwater Square.

On arrival at Southwater Square the Parade Marshall will collect everyone’s lanterns and place them onto floating decks on Southwater Lake for the evening.

We hope you’ll take time to visit the Telford Makers Market and Christmas Yurt which opens in Southwater on the 29th, with a range of craft stalls, ideal for that family gift this Christmas.  The large Christmas Yurt will be hosting a range of activity from 29th November to 7th December including creative craft workshops, music, films, coffee mornings, family games activities, Christmas Carols, dance workshops and a Jazz Cafe. The lanterns will remain on the lake overnight. Anyone wishing to keep their lantern will be able to collect it after midday on Sunday 30 November from the Christmas Yurt.

As the clocks go back and the nights draw in, join us for an evening celebration of Telford with a magical parade of lanterns at 6pm from Telford Town Park Visitor Centre to Southwater Square Telford.

To join in the parade book onto a family lantern making workshop over half term.

Lantern workshops are just £2 per child.

Come along during half term and make a willow and tissue lantern to take part in our magical Telford Celebration Lantern Parade from Telford Town Park to Southwater Square on Saturday 29th November at 6pm.

Artists will guide you through the process of making a willow stick lantern, you will then be able to use your artistic licence to decorate them.

Fun family workshop for children aged 5 upwards. Children must be accompanied by a helpful adult as you will make and decorate your lantern together.

The workshops are two and a half hours long and will involve glue! Don’t wear your best clothes. Aprons provided.
